  • Marta Calderón Ibáñez

    Chief editor and source editor

Marta checks every figure, date and rule on the handbook against the official text it comes from, and keeps the claim register that records each check. She works in Spanish and English and follows changes to Spanish property and tax rules as they are published. She is not a lawyer or tax adviser, and her reviews do not replace one.

  • Daniel Whitcombe

Writer, buying and living in Spain

Daniel writes the chapters on how a purchase runs, who can buy, where to buy and how to check a location. He writes for readers who are new to the Spanish system and prefers plain explanations that name the official source. He is not a lawyer or adviser.

  • Inés Arroyo Vidal

Writer, taxes, legal steps and money

Inés writes the chapters on taxes, the legal process, mortgages and money, renting, owning and selling. She works from the laws and the official pages that apply them, quotes the section she relied on and says plainly what she could not confirm. She is not a lawyer or tax adviser.

§ 1How the work is split

Each chapter and note has one writer, named at the top and at the end of the page. Daniel writes the sections on the buying process, nationality, residency, the market, places, property types and location checks. Inés writes the sections on costs and taxes, the legal process, mortgages and money, renting out, and owning and selling. Marta checks the figures, dates and rules on every page against the official text and keeps the register of those checks.

§ 2What they are, and are not

The writers and the source editor read and explain laws, official guides and tax agency pages. They are not lawyers, tax advisers or registered professionals, and nothing here replaces advice from an independent Spanish lawyer or a tax adviser acting for you. Each page shows its writer, its source editor, what was checked and the sources.
